Privacy Policy

89 (paraplan.ai) lets you record a short video ask, share the link with friends and collect their replies. This page explains, in plain language, what we keep and why.
What we store
- Your account. If you sign in with your phone: your phone number. If you sign in with Google: your Google email address and Google's account ID for you. If you sign in with Apple: Apple's user ID for you and the email Apple shares, which may be a private relay address (ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com). In each case, the name you give us, the name from your Google or Apple profile, or a name we suggest that you can change later. We do not store your Google profile photo.
- Camera and microphone. Recording a video ask or a video reply uses your camera and microphone. We store that video and a still image from it. We don't use the camera or microphone for anything else.
- Push notifications. If you allow notifications in the iPhone app, we store the device token Apple gives that phone and its time zone, so we can send reply alerts and the evening reminder. You can turn notifications off under Settings.
- Your profile (optional). What you choose to add: a photo you upload, a short bio, what you're working on, what you can help with, and your LinkedIn, Instagram and website. Your profile page (with your bio, links and stories) is shown only to you and your connections; anyone else who opens its link sees your photo, your first name, and that the profile is private.
- Connections. Who you connected with by scanning a QR code or opening a connect link, and when; and which friends' stories you have watched, to mark new ones. Your connect code is random, and you can reset it any time (the old code stops working).
- Your requests. The video you record, a still image from it, the automatic transcript of what you said, your one-line ask, the document you attach (if any), and the link you add (if any). For a link we fetch the page's title and preview image once, from our server, to show it as a card.
- Replies. The text or video reply, the name the replier gives (optional), and for signed-in repliers their phone number or Google email. We also keep the IP address a reply came from, to fight spam.
- Sign-in records. Which phone numbers we sent login codes to and when (to stop code abuse), and your login session.
- Connected assistants. If you connect an assistant (by tapping Allow on a connect link it sends you, by adding 89 as a connector in an app like Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor and tapping Allow, or by creating a token under Settings → Connected assistants), we store only a scrambled fingerprint of it, its name, and when it was created and last used. Whoever holds the token can read your requests and the replies you got, including the contact details of verified repliers, until you revoke it. It can't post, reply or change anything.
- Usage counts. To see how the site is used, our own server counts visits and key steps (opening a link, starting a recording, posting, replying, downloading an attachment). For this we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your network address and browser type, never the address itself. No third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
- Cookies. Only the ones the site needs:
sidkeeps you logged in (180 days),adholds a recording you made before signing in (7 days),rklets you finish a reply from the same browser (1 year),gsprotects Google sign-in (10 minutes),pcremembers a connect code you opened before signing up, so you're connected right after (7 days). No advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we store it
Only to run 89: to log you in, to show your request to the people you share it with, to deliver replies to your inbox, and to keep out spam and abuse. Speech-to-text runs on our own server; we don't send your videos to outside AI services.
How long we keep it
- Your account, requests, attachments and replies: until you ask us to delete them.
- Recordings you never posted (or never finished signing in for): deleted automatically after 24 hours.
- Login sessions: they expire after 180 days.
Who can see a request
Anyone with the link can watch a request, read its ask and transcript, see your name, save the video, and download its attachment if there is one. Links aren't listed anywhere, but anyone you (or your friends) forward the link to can open it. Anyone signed in can also see your asks on the Stories home and watch them: people you're connected with see yours in the circles at the top, and everyone else sees them in the grid. Your profile (bio, links, and the stories listed on the profile page) stays visible only to you and your connections. Replies are shown only to the person who asked, who can also save a video reply.
Who we share data with
We never sell your data. We use a few services to run the site:
- Twilio sends the SMS login codes, so it receives your phone number.
- Google handles "Continue with Google" if you choose it.
- Apple delivers push notifications, and handles Sign in with Apple if you choose it.
- Cloudflare delivers the website to your browser.
Reports
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. To report a request, a reply, or a person, email [email protected] with the link and what happened. We review reports within 24 hours. Content that breaks the rules is removed, and the person who posted it is removed from 89. You can remove a connection yourself any time; they then drop out of your Stories.
Deleting your data
You can delete a request yourself (the trash icon), or your whole account under Settings → Delete account.
Email [email protected] from the address or with the phone number you use on 89, and say what you want deleted (one request, or everything). We'll delete your account, your requests with their videos, transcripts and attachments, your replies, your profile and your connections.
